Reader Program
Beta Readers
Beta readers receive a completed draft and provide structured feedback before the manuscript goes to the editor. This is the last chance to catch a story problem while there is still room to fix it.
Beta reading vs ARC reading
Complete drafts, considered feedback
A beta reader is not an advance reviewer. Where ARC readers receive a polished, final copy and post a public review, beta readers receive a completed but unedited draft and respond privately—typically through a structured questionnaire and their own notes.
The questions are designed to capture the reader's honest experience: where did you feel most engaged, where did you lose confidence in a character, was the ending satisfying? This is not a request for line edits or copyediting.
Beta readers are drawn from readers who have already demonstrated they understand historical romance as a genre with its own conventions and pleasures—people who know what the genre promises and can assess whether a book delivers on that promise.
