The Newsletter
Calculated Ruin
Letters on difficult women, Regency oddities, the slow work of writing a second book, and whatever I found in the archive this week.
Sent when something is worth saying. No calendar, no algorithm.
What's inside
Letters worth opening
Calculated Ruin is a newsletter about the kind of women history quietly put in a corner and the kind I put on the page. Expect the occasional primary source. Expect to be informed about household account manipulation as a form of social warfare.
I write when I have something to say, which means the cadence is “when the book allows it” rather than “every Tuesday.” Past issues have covered Regency-era cosmetics as intelligence operations, the surprisingly violent economics of companion hiring, and why I rewrote chapter seven eleven times.
